Emergency living assistance to persons living with HIV/AIDS and their
families for food, utilities, medical supplies, medications, and other
quality of life needs.
Barriers, including condoms, available free of charge to help stop
the spread of HIV.
Honoraria to low-income HIV+ speakers, who explain the realities of
living with AIDS to school and community groups.
JAS sponsors an annual World AIDS Day observance, where individuals
join in remembering those who have died, as well as to express hope
for the future.
JAS sponsors the local "Walk Against AIDS", a fundraiser
and educational opportunity for community members. One of the educational
aspects of the Walk is a "poster contest" in the public schools
to raise awareness. At the Walk day rally and picnic, participants and
the public are treated to valuable information about the "state
of the pandemic" presented by various speakers.
